When the Life You've Built No Longer Fits: Navigating a Life Transition

I had an architect come and visit today…

We live in a granny bungalow — my granny's bungalow, in fact — and with two boys who are now teenagers, the space doesn't quite work for us like it used to.
We could look at moving, but when so much is good about this place, getting an expert in to help us see what's possible — and work out whether my ideas are actually viable (and within budget!) — feels like the best move right now.
It feels exciting, and a bit of a leap at the same time… moving from the known into the unknown, starting a project that will affect our lives, knowing there will probably be some upheaval along the way, not yet being able to picture what the finished version might look like, or what challenges we'll encounter getting there….
And it made me think about the people I support through mentoring…
Often, they know their current life isn't quite the right fit anymore.
They know something needs to change.
They may have a sense that there's potential for things to be different — perhaps more spacious, more sustainable, more aligned with who they are now — but they can't quite see what that looks like yet.
Sometimes there has been a big life change. Sometimes a late diagnosis has made sense of things that haven't made sense before, while also leaving someone wondering what comes next. Sometimes health, work, family or circumstances have changed in ways they didn't choose…
And sometimes, they simply reach a point where the life they've built no longer fits the person they've become.
Because we are, in many ways, the architects of our own lives.
But sometimes, having someone with experience and understanding walk alongside us for a while can take some of the tension out of the process.
Not someone to tell us what to do. Someone to help us pause, look at what's already there, explore what's possible and work out what might need to change to create a better fit.
That's a big part of what I'm now offering through my 1:1 Clarity & Direction mentoring for women navigating a life transition.
It's an extension of the charity mentoring I've been doing for some time, supporting women through all sorts of transitions — including starting businesses, rethinking their working lives, navigating change and finding a way forward after life hasn't gone quite as planned.
For me, the common thread is helping someone create a little more clarity and space, so they can begin to build a life that fits them better. And I think most of us need that kind of space at times.
I'm currently offering a small number of introductory 3-session spaces while I develop this part of my work.
If this resonates, you're welcome to get in touch or book a free 20-minute clarity call to see whether it feels like the right kind of support for you.
Sometimes we don't need a whole new life, we just need someone to help us see what's possible with the one we've already got.
